What you get back
Ask the question the way you would ask a colleague: what is withheld from this pay, what payroll tax is due in Queensland on these wages, how much of this redundancy is tax free. Back comes the figure, the working, the provision or award clause and the version of the law that applied on the date you asked about.
Where the law needs a judgement first, employee or contractor, genuine redundancy or not, TobyAI shows you the test and the citation and stops. You record the decision and the figure follows from it. Where TobyAI does not hold the source for a date or a state, it says so instead of guessing.
Beside Xero, MYOB and payroll
Your software records, reconciles, pays and lodges. TobyAI reads from it, read-only, and checks the figures against the law in force on that date. It keeps no ledger, runs no payroll and never lodges. The FAQ sets out the split.
Why the figure holds
Every figure is calculated from rates, thresholds and dates held with their source and the date they were checked, each signed off by a chartered accountant before it can reach you. AI does not touch the arithmetic; it only explains the result in plain language.
When a rate changes, the new one is checked and signed off the same way, and the old one is kept, so a question about the year ended 30 June 2024 is answered from the figures that applied then. The Security page has the detail for anyone who wants it.
Your data
Held in Sydney, never reaches an AI provider, never trains a model. How that is held.
What launches 1 October
Income tax, GST and BAS, PAYG withholding, super guarantee, termination and redundancy, payroll tax, 26 FairWork awards and long service leave (the coverage list). Fringe benefits tax and the rest follow by 31 December; the FAQ has the order. One plan, priced per seat. The free Xero health check is open now.
Disagree with a figure? Write to hello@tobyai.io. A person reads it.
